I-T dept carries searches on 60 premises of two corporates

The income-tax department officials on Wednesday made searches on more than 60 premises of two corporate groups. The search operations involved more than 150 officials and were carried out on properties of an Ahmedabad-based saree and realty company as well as a Surendranagar-based pharmaceutical company.

The city-based group is into the business of readymade garments, real estate and stock market. I-T officials searched 27 premises, including the home of the group promoter's office at Law Garden apart from saree shops and offices on Relief Road and Nava Vadaj. Residential schemes launched by the group in western areas of the city were also searched and account books were seized. The group's property in Mumbai was also searched by the department.
