Dik Drug Extends License of SupplyScape’s Pharmaceutical Traceability Solutions to Grow the New Business Pipeline

WOBURN, Mass.-SupplyScape Corporation, a leading provider of software and planning services for traceability and collaboration to secure the safety and value of the global pharmaceutical supply chain, today announced that Dik Drug Co. has renewed its multi-year subscription to SupplyScape’s pharmaceutical traceability solutions. The renewal was based on the secure regulatory compliance and return-on-investment Dik Drug has gained since it implemented SupplyScape E-Pedigree(TM) three years ago. As a result, Dik extended its license and upgraded to the SupplyScape Nexus(TM) platform to simplify the connection to and management of its growing customer base.

Dik Drug distributes more than 20,000 products over a broad spectrum of categories; however, few of these products are received with pedigrees. In turn, Dik Drug is faced with the challenge of efficiently creating pedigrees, traditionally a manual and lengthy process, to provide to its downstream suppliers. Additionally, as Dik’s business has grown, the number of trading partner connections and the complexity of business interoperability has significantly increased.

SupplyScape’s E-Pedigree solution provides the core pedigree creation and management capability for Dik. Recently, Dik Drug turned to the Nexus collaboration platform to expedite the exchange of pedigrees across the entire supply chain and improve communication with trading partners. The SaaS-based solution allows exchange of pedigree information between Dik Drug and other partners without the need of B2B gateway services.

“After a long term relationship with SupplyScape, we upgraded to the latest version of E-Pedigree on the Nexus platform to meet our growing business needs and help drive new business,” said Tim Melvin, vice president of distribution and technology, Dik Drug. “Migration was complete in just over a month and we now have a simplified ability to create, manage and update pedigree information quickly and securely. The streamlined SupplyScape platform allows us to concentrate on our primary business – serving our customers.”

“Since the economic downturn began, reducing operational costs for the pharmaceutical industry has been a crucial component to our business and we have seen a number of companies upgrade to the Nexus platform to make on-ramping with their trading partners as simple and automatic as possible,” said Lucy Deus, vice president of products, SupplyScape. “As companies like Dik Drug continue to improve their ease-of-doing-business, these firms gain a leg up on their rivals in the highly competitive drug distribution business. To support this, we have focused considerable effort in solutions such as Nexus and E-Pedigree to provide capabilities that improve operational flexibility and reduce work.”

Genetco Seeks to Improve Operational Performance with SupplyScape’s Pharmaceutical Traceability Solutions

WOBURN, Mass.-SupplyScape Corporation, a leading provider of software and consulting services for traceability and collaboration to secure the value and safety of the global pharmaceutical supply chain, today announced that Genetco Inc. has selected SupplyScape E-PedigreeTM and SupplyScape NexusTM to help anchor its internal product traceability system and manage the regulatory and operational complexity created by the nation’s pedigree requirements.

As a leading full-line generics distributor operating in multiple states and handling product lines from more than 170 manufacturers, Genetco faces multiple business challenges. Compliance with numerous state-level and national product traceability regulations is mandatory. Driving new growth means providing excellent service and competitive pricing to a diverse pharmacy customer base with widely varying technical and process requirements. Pharmaceutical company suppliers deliver shipment information in a myriad of formats and levels of precision. With new regulations coming online and serialization mandates looming, Genetco turned to SupplyScape to help build a flexible and efficient operational platform that provided a new level of efficiency in their distribution operations.

The SupplyScape Nexus platform will provide a variety of pedigree outputs so Genetco can offer its customers electronic pedigrees, paper versions or streamlined access to their pedigree information in a web portal. Customers will also save time and reduce errors through a simplified returns process that enables authorization through the web portal. Tight inventory control will be maintained through a nightly automated inventory analysis performed by the E-Pedigree system working in concert with Genetco’s warehouse management system. In addition, to reduce the work of internal sales personnel, the integrated system will also support an automated due diligence process which will only present current, ready-to-sell product options.

“Our ability to serve customers at the lowest cost and highest service levels is directly tied to our ability to efficiently manage our distribution processes,” said William Carney, vice president of operations, Genetco Inc. “The SupplyScape Nexus and E-Pedigree solutions, with their flexible pedigree management tools and extensive set of built-in business rules to support our unique operational processes, give us increased flexibility to optimize our product distribution and future-proof our operations as regulations change and new growth opportunities emerge for our business.”

“While some companies look upon compliance with traceability regulations as purely a cost of doing business, others like Genetco see them as a catalyst to create competitive advantage,” said Lucy Deus, vice president of products, SupplyScape. “It is forward-thinking companies like these that we have collaborated with closely over the years to develop lean inventory capabilities such as cycle count reporting, product expiry monitoring, streamlined receiving and returns processing.”
