Orchid Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals today said its Chennai-based facility has cleared the US health regulator's inspection, paving the way for continuous supply of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) to global markets.The company's Cephalosporin API manufacturing complex located at Alathur, in Chennai, has cleared the recent US Food and Drug Administration (USFDA) inspection it we"This successful inspection would help the continuing supply of the niche APIs manufactured by Orchid in this location to developed markets," the company said.
The Chennai facility manufactures a range of oral and sterile Cephalosporin APIs and caters to developed markets like the US, Europe and Japan, it added.
Cephalosporins are a newer class of antibiotics used in treating infections in different parts of the body.
Shares of Orchid Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals were being quoted at Rs 240.25 apiece in late afternoon trade on the BSE today, up 3.60% from their previous close.
