The first Pharmaceutical Production Unit for the Ashanti Regional Medical Stores has been inaugurated in Kumasi.
It is named after Mrs. Eunice Ansah Asmoah, a former Regional Pharmacist, who with her team initiated the project in 2003, but died in a road accident on her way back from a national assignment in the Eastern Region.
Apart from producing drugs, the facility will help check the potency of drugs and other medical items sourced for clinics and hospitals in the region.
It was constructed at a cost of three hundred thousand cedis. The funds were generated internally by the Medical Stores.
Minister Kofi Opoku Manu, said the completion of the facility marks a turning point in the health services delivery, as they complement other types of health care interventions to reduce the death rate and enhance quality of life.
