HealthSpring, Inc. announced that James R. "Rusty" Hailey has been appointed as Senior Vice President and President of Pharmaceutical Operations.
Hailey will oversee all of HealthSpring's Part D operations, including its national stand-alone Prescription Drug Plan.
Since 1994, Hailey has been associated with Coventry Health Care, Inc., a publicly held managed care organization, where he served in various roles, including Chief Pharmacy Officer and Senior Vice President, Pharmacy Services, and Executive Vice President for Coventry Prescription Management Services. He oversaw corporate pharmacy strategies, clinical pharmacy initiatives, formulary management, contracting with pharmaceutical companies, specialty pharmaceuticals, national pharmacy network contracting, pharmacy benefit designs and all aspects of pharmacy practice for Coventry.
Hailey's prior experience also includes 12 years with SmithKlineBeecham Pharmaceutical Company.

Hailey is a Doctor of Pharmacy, a graduate of the University of Mississippi School of Pharmacy, has a master's in business administration from St. Joseph's University and is a Fellow of the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy. He is currently President of The Foundation of Managed Care Pharmacy and has been involved in other industry organizations, including the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy, the Joint Commission of Pharmacy Practitioners and the American Pharmacists Association.
HealthSpring is a coordinated care plan whose primary focus is the Medicare Advantage market.
