Mexico City, MEXICO
In a startling revelation today, Mexican President Felipe Calderon admitted that the current strain of swine flu spreading across the world was manufactured in an effort to battle the out-of-control drug war in Mexico.
As many have speculated, this strain, H1N1, seems too improbable to naturally occur and must be the product of viral engineering. Calderon's admission shocked the world as news spread like the flu.
"We have been out-manned, out-gunned and out-funded by the drug cartels for too long", Calderon explained. "For the safety of our people and the people of the United States, we were desperate for a way to combat the violence. So we unleashed this virus."
What the President hadn't planned on was the virus becoming a pandemic.
"We were assured by the American pharmaceutical company we contracted with that the virus would remain local," Calderon pleaded as he bore the weight of his poor decision. "They were wrong."
Calderon refused to name the pharmaceutical company. Calls to all the US pharmaceutical companies went unreturned.
Drug cartel violence in Mexico has remain unabated.
