Haz-Mat Crews Respond To Pharmaceuticals Co.

BOSTON -Boston hazardous materials crews responded to a Boston pharmaceutical company Thursday morning to investigate calls concerning a spilled substance.

Hazmat crews were called to the Merck Research Laboratories facility at 33 Avenue Louis Pasteur about 9:30 a.m. when a package broke open and spilled on the loading dock, fire officials said.
There was no early indication of exactly what was spilled, but a Level 3 hazmat situation was called and crews donned protective suits as a precaution.

No injuries were reported but employees were evacuated as a precaution.
The company in Boston's Longwood Medical Center researches cancer and neurodegenerative diseases.
