Excluding certain items, it posted a loss of $0.38 a share, trailing analysts' average estimate of a loss of $0.20 a share, according to Reuters Estimates. Revenue slumped 37% to $72.0 million, beating analysts' expectations of revenue of $64.1 million. Yesterday, the stock ended at $14.67.

BP plc (ADR) (NYSE:BP) on July 28, 2009, reported 2Q2009 profit attributable to BP shareholders of US$4.39 billion or 23.16 cents per share, compared to US$9.36 billion or 49.23 cents per share last year. Pre-tax profit was US$6.77 billion, lower than US$14.5 billion in the same quarter last year. Sales and other operating revenues declined to US$54.78 billion from US$108.75 billion in the same period in the previous year. On July 28, 2009, BP plc announced a dividend of $0.14 per ordinary share to be paid in September. Holders of ordinary shares will receive 8.503 pence per share and holders of American Depositary Receipts $0.84 per ADS. The dividend is payable on September 08, 2009, to shareholders on the register on August 14, 2009. Participants in the Dividend Reinvestment Plan (DRIP) or the DRIP facility in the US Direct Access Plan will receive the dividend in the form of shares, also on September 8, 2009. In the previous trading session, the stock closed at $51.34.
