MUMBAI India -Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd.'s (524715.BY) generic finasteride tablets haven't yet received approval for sale in the U.S., the Indian company and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration said Thursday.
On July 2, a statement on the FDA's web site said that approval had been granted for Sun Pharmaceutical to sell the tablets in 1 milligram doses. The statement was subsequently removed.
An FDA spokesman confirmed that the agency hasn't granted approval to Sun Pharmaceutical to sell the drug, which is used in the treatment of enlarged prostates.
Asked why the statement was posted and then removed, the spokesman didn't comment.
