Astra Zeneca gets good news from FDA

International pharmaceutical company, Astra Zeneca, has been given approval in America to market Onglyza, a new pill for adult diabetes.

The treatment was developed in partnership with rival pharmaceutical group Bristol-Myers Squibb.

It is believed sales will eventually reach more than $1 billion annually after the approval from the US Food & Drug Administration.

Onglyza will be the first new pill to be launched in the US by Astra Zeneca since it began selling its anti-cholesterol treatment, Crestor, in 2003.
