Outcomes Pharmaceutical Health Care has been selected by Humana Inc. to partner on the administration of its Medication Therapy Management (MTM) program offered nationwide.
In a release, the group noted that MTM programs provide eligible members the opportunity to improve therapeutic outcomes and health literacy through a specialized comprehensive medication review with a health professional.
The group noted that this partnership will offer eligible Humana members a complete medication profile review with a pharmacist to detect any potential conflicts or duplications. Other services, such as patient education, compliance monitoring, and assistance with non-prescription medications, will also be available.
"Humana has a strong commitment to offering the full benefits of MTM to our members," said William Fleming, PharmD., Humana's vice president of Pharmacy and Clinical Integration. "Since Humana's MTM program inception in 2006, Humana has worked to reach out to all eligible Medicare and commercial prescription drug plan members to offer them personalized counseling on their prescription drug use."
Through this offering, Humana members who meet the MTM eligibility requirements will have the opportunity to receive services from specially trained Personal Pharmacists to help them achieve safe and effective results from their medications.
"This program will help enrollees get the best possible results from their medications, while avoiding dangerous drug interactions, dosing problems and other complications. We are excited to partner with Humana on this important initiative," said Outcomes CEO Tom Halterman.
