A PHARMACIST based in Wirral has been elected as president of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society.
Martin Asbury, 42, who works as a practising pharmacist at WM Morrisons in West Kirby, will be the first president of the professional body in its new form – "a membership body entirely focused driving excellence in pharmacy."
The society has 48,000 members and Mr Asbury will play a lead role in the strategic leadership of the organisation.
He was one of the first pharmacists to work directly with drug addicts, providing methadone to those on a treatment programme within a pharmacy setting. He was also one of the first pharmacists allowed to prescribe nicotine therapies for the NHS.
