A letter sent by Labañino was read on Monday to that sector’s workers during the main meeting held at the Medical-Surgical Research Center on the occasion of Pharmacist Day, in which he wishes them success in their important work for the good of mankind.
He also conveyed greetings from The Five Heroes, and recalled that he always dreamt about being a scientist and pictured himself working with a microscope and analyzing plants and medicines.
“I firmly believe in natural medicine, in plants, in the rich nature we have,” stated
Labañino, who before his arrest in the United States worked in the distribution of medicaments in a drugstore network.
The Day of Cuban Pharmacists is celebrated on November 22, in honor of the day in which Dr. Antonio Guiteras was born, and on this occasion (his 104th anniversary) the 2nd National Pharmacy Meeting was held, during which experiences were exchanged between professionals in this field, totaling over 2,000 in the society.
Services and pharmaceutical technology, regulatory aspects, clinical essays, the
development of biotechnology products and vaccines, pharmacology and toxicology, and quality management, were among topics tackled by participants in the meeting.
