Drug firm Patheon's CEO leaves

n">Patheon Inc a Canadian pharmaceutical firm, said its chief executive for three years, Wesley Wheeler, has left the company.

Patheon, which provides contract development and manufacturing services to the global pharmaceutical industry, said it has named Peter Bigelow, president of its North American operations, as interim CEO.

"The company has reached a stage where new leadership is required to help Patheon realize its full potential as an industry leader," chairman Ramsey Frank said in a statement.

Shares of the Toronto-based company have shed about 38 percent in the last three years, since Wheeler was appointed CEO in Nov 2007.
