In 1981, he told The Inquirer that the company had achieved record sales and earnings in its surgical and international pharmaceutical divisions and in its U.S. pharmaceutical division.
In 1984, Mr. Moyer was named vice chairman of Rorer. That year, in an Inquirer interview, he cited three tests of leadership: superior company performance within the industry, influence throughout the organization, and the ability to attract and retain others who have leadership qualities.
While vice chairman, Mr. Moyer was an adjunct professor of accounting at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
He retired from Rorer, now Sanofi-Aventis, in 1986.
Mr. Moyer was senior class president and star of the track team at Lansdale High School. When he graduated in 1939, the North Penn Reporter described him as "first in the class, first in the mile, and first in the esteem of his classmates."
Mr. Moyer earned a bachelor's degree from Wharton.
During World War II, he served in the Navy aboard the battleship Alabama in the Pacific and then was a Navy supply instructor at Harvard University.
After his discharge, he earned a master's degree in business administration from Wharton and worked in finance for Rohm & Haas and was controller for Fleer Corp. before joining Rorer in 1962 as assistant treasurer.
Mr. Moyer was past president of the Philadelphia Chapter of the Financial Executive Institute. He served on the board of the Fox Chase Cancer Center and was past precedent of the Main Line Adult Day Center.
He was a member of Merion Golf Club. He and his wife traveled the globe and enjoyed winter vacations in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., and summer vacations in Avalon, N.J.
Mr. Moyer is survived by his wife of 62 years, Shirley; a son, Geoffrey; daughters Carol Haldy, Lucy Dubas, Nancy, and Janet; three brothers; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 5, at Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church, 625 Montgomery Ave., where Mr. Moyer was a member for almost 60 years and served as deacon, elder, and member of the board of trustees.
