Court denies request to prevent Watson drug launch

Watson Pharmaceuticals Inc. said Friday a federal court denied requests for a preliminary injunction and temporary restraining order to prevent it from launching a generic version of the contraceptive Seasonique.The requests were made by Duramed Pharmaceuticals Inc., and the ruling was made by the U.S. District Court for the District of Nevada. Watson said it was evaluating plans for the launch.Seasonique is trademarked by Teva Women's Health. In 2010, the federal court had granted a motion for summary judgment against Watson and for Teva Pharmaceutical Industries. But, earlier this year, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit reversed and remanded for trial that order.
