BEAUMONT: Police to hold pharmaceutical drop-off event

On Saturday, Sept. 29, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Beaumont Police Department and Drug Enforcement Administration will hold a pharmaceutical drop-off event.

People may bring medications for disposal to the Beaumont Civic Center parking lot at the corner of Orange Avenue and 6th Street in Beaumont. The service is free and anonymous; no questions asked.

This is an opportunity for people to prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding their homes of expired, unused and unwanted prescription drugs. Last year, Americans turned in over 376,593 pounds — or 188 tons — of prescription drugs at nearly 5,400 sites operated by the DEA and more than 3,000 state and local law enforcement partners.
