Actavis Group, an international generic pharmaceuticals company, today announced that it has received approval from the US Food & Drug Administration to market Valacyclovir Hydrochloride Tablets. Valacyclovir Hydrochloride Tablets 500mg and 1 gram, the generic equivalent of Valtrex® by GlaxoSmithKline, had US sales of approximately $1.5 billion for the 12 months ending December 31, 2010, according to IMS Health.
