Gerresheimer AG is one of the leading worldwide suppliers to the pharma and healthcare industry. The investment is aimed at strengthening its pharmaceutical plastic packaging business in South America. The financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.
Uwe Röhrhoff, CEO of Gerresheimer AG, said expanding in emerging markets is a key component of the firm’s growth strategy. Röhrhoff said the acquisition of Védat, a technology leader and very profitable company in Brazil, significantly strengthens Gerresheimer position in the South American pharmaceutical primary packaging market. It perfectly fits Gerresheimer’s strategy of doubling its sales in the emerging markets from €100 million to €200 million by 2013.

Védat will help Gerresheimer take an important step forward as a full-service partner for pharmaceutical plastic packaging in South America, he added.
